I have traveled most of the continental US throughout my life and have seen and studied the beautiful variations in landscapes with intent on someday painting what I saw. Schooling, work and family had taken most of my energy up until my golden years.

Little did I know that when I sat down to create that the part of me in all those years would reveal itself in the peace that would come from reproducing the spirit of nature

To paint a tree, you must become a tree. I’ve adopted this philosophy in every work with intention and reverence for that very spirit.

I want to share this with everyone. I want to let them know that creativity is our natural state and not to wait too long to express yourself, for yourself and no one else.

O these vast, calm, measureless mountain days.

Inciting at once to work and rest.

Days in whose light everything seems equally divine.

Opening a thousand windows to show us God.

Nevermore, however weary, should one faint by the way
who gains the blessings of one mountain day;

Whatever his fate, long life, short life, stormy or calm,

He is rich forever!

John Muir
